I am Chris Valdrighi, Principal of New Kent High School.  I have been at New Kent High School since 2009.  I  grew up in both Richmond and Mathews County.  I received my B.A. in History and Education from Randolph-Macon College and completed my Masters in Education from Virginia Commonwealth University in Administration and Supervision in 2000.
I was also lucky enough to teach and coach football, basketball and track at Patrick Henry High School in Hanover and football and soccer at Lancaster High School. In 2000, I became the Assistant Principal of Essex High School in Tappahannock, where I also coached soccer. In 2007 I was honored to be  inducted into the Northern Neck Sports Wall of Fame because I was fortunate enough to work with and coach some amazing students during my time at both Lancaster and Essex High Schools. Before coming to New Kent High School, I also served as the principal at Middlesex High School in Saluda and held positions with Rappahannock Community College's Workforce Development Office. In 2014, I completed my Ed.S degree from George Washington University in Washington, D.C.
I truly believe in "New Kent Strong" and  feel very fortunate to work with awesome students and a super supportive community.  We are all committed to preparing our students for life after high school and to be productive, confident, and compassionate citizens.   I am confident that with the hard work of our outstanding faculty, school counselors, support staff and administrative team, we will prepare our students for college, career and life readiness.
I hope you will follow New Kent High School on Twitter: @NewKentStrong and listen out for our Sunday evening Trojan News for updates and announcements.
Go Trojans!

Greetings! I am Allison Strickland, one of the two assistant principals at New Kent High School. Before becoming a vice principal at NKHS, I taught high school English and coached indoor and outdoor varsity track and field with New Kent County Public Schools for ten years. I was also employed with Newport News Public Schools prior to arriving in New Kent.

I grew up in Hampton, Virginia, graduated from Phoebus High School, and earned my Bachelor of Arts degree and Master of Arts in Teaching degree from Christopher Newport University. I am currently enrolled in the Educational Policy, Planning, and Leadership doctoral cohort at William and Mary (Go Tribe!) and completing my Ed.D. dissertation.

I oversee and work with all currently enrolled ninth and eleventh grade students at NKHS and their families. My administrative responsibilities include presiding over the English department, the Fine and Performing arts department, and the Health and Physical Education department. Additionally, I serve as NKCPS’ Freshman Transition Coordinator.

I am honored to work with the New Kent community each and every day. Please know that I have an “open door policy”. Please feel free to reach out at any time via email, phone call, or appointment. I look forward to the upcoming school year, and all of the many amazing things that we will achieve, accomplish, and celebrate together! #NKStrong
